AI Music in a Critical Moment: Legal Battles and Strategic Moves –
AI music is facing a pivotal moment. On June 24, major record labels sued leading AI music startups Suno and Udio. Sony Music, Warner Music Group, and Universal Music Group allege these companies used copyrighted music in their training data on an immense scale, enabling their AI to mimic genuine human sound recordings.
In contrast, YouTube is taking a more transparent approach. According to the Financial Times, YouTube is negotiating with top record labels, offering lump sums for licenses to use their catalogues for training AI models.
Apple Integrates ChatGPT Across Its Ecosystem – Apple is integrating ChatGPT into iOS, iPadOS, and macOS, allowing users to access ChatGPT’s capabilities, such as image and document understanding, seamlessly within their devices. Siri can also leverage ChatGPT’s intelligence when needed. Before any questions, documents, or photos are sent to ChatGPT, users are asked for permission, and Siri presents the answers directly. It is called, Apple Intelligence.
